PHOTOS: Here's What The World's Biggest Athletes Wore At The ESPYs Last Night

Athletes. They're great out on the field of play, but when it comes to fashion, sometimes they are questionable.

Last night at the ESPYs, athletes (and for some, their stylists) tried their hardest to look great. And over all, we think they did a pretty good job.

Biggest disappointment of the night? Most of the biggest NBA stars couldn't attend because they are in Las Vegas preparing for the Olympics. Can you imagine what LeBron would have worn?

Steve Nash represented NBA fashion in a dapper three piece suit with a pocket square, while Danica Patrick wore a summer pink dress

Drew Brees accepted his 'Record-Breaking Performance of the Year' award in a very shiny jacket

US softball player Jennie Finch went with a short, form fitting dress, a style she often goes for

The Patriots Reportedly Put A Kibosh On Gronk's Fun Summer

New England Patriots Rob GronkowskiRob Gronkowski's epic summer is about to go into chill mode.

New England Patriots officials have asked Gronk to tone things down, according to a report from the Boston Globe (via Shutdown Corner).

Gronk has been busy this summer partying with his shirt off, posing naked in the ESPN Body Issue, and more importantly (as far as the Patriots are concerned) signing a massive new contract making him the highest paid tight end in NFL history.

His frat boy antics have been well-chronicled all summer and apparently Patriots brass would rather new images of Gronk's partying ways not appear all over the internet.

Here's the Globe's eloquent description of what the Pats told Gronk:

After posing nude for ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue” and partying at events for the issue and the ESPYs (Gronkowski was up for two awards but was shut out), and co-hosting “Access Hollywood Live” in recent days — things that seem un-Patriot-like — don’t be surprised if he lays low for the next couple of weeks.

Via a league source, Gronkowski has been told by the team that his summer of Gronk, so to speak, is over.

We really hope this isn't true.

Bill Simmons Tells Three Crazy Rob Gronkowski Stories From The ESPYs

rob gronkowski body issue cover

The Patriots told Rob Gronkowski to stop partying so hard, but not before he had a wild night at the ESPYs, according to Grantland's Bill Simmons.

On his most recent podcast, Simmons told three pretty typical Gronk stories. He witnessed the first anecdote himself, and friends witnessed the other two.

1. "Gronkowski sprints down past all the people going down the [escalator], and sprints up the down [escalator]. Then gets to the bottom and raises his hands and goes, 'Yeah!'"

2. "He's in the elevator and there's probably like 10 people in the elevator including one of my friends. He says to the doorman — [he's going to] this party that's going to be on the roof somewhere in LA, it's outdoors — so he says to the elevator person, 'At this party, can we party with out shirts off?' And the guy is like, 'Ah, yeah I think so.' And Gronkowski turns to his buddy and goes, 'Yeah!' and high-fives him."

3. "Gronkowski is in line for the bathroom. There's a line, two urinals and a stall. They're all waiting. Gronkowski is with his two brothers, who just looked awesome. He goes into the stall and he turns around to one of his brothers and says, 'Crossys?' The second brother goes in, the third brother goes in, and then there's some guy who's waiting — some small guy — and they say, 'Let's get him too.' They grab this guy and pull him in, and they all pee in the bathroom together, in the stall."

Fun times.

ESPN Censored Its Own Rob Gronkowski Body Issue Photo On 'SportsCenter' This Morning

On this morning's SportsCenter, the subject of New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski came up. The discussion focused on his wild off-season, which included one of the cover shots for ESPN the Magazine's "Body Issue."

Interestingly, ESPN decided to use a cropped version of the photo for this segment, as seen below. Host Lindsay Czarniak even added that the photo was cropped "for child viewing."

Of course, this leaves us wondering, why is the photo OK for the cover of a magazine popular among children, but is not OK for "SportsCenter"?

Rob Gronkowski graces the cover of Sports Illustrated this week and it couldn't get us more excited for the football season to begin.

Not only are we excited to see Gronk have another great season on the field, but we also can't wait for more of his crazy off-the-field antics.

Rob Gronkowski Once Got Paid Five Figures To Go To A Birthday Party And Play Drinking Games

Here's an interesting tidbit from the fantastic feature on Rob Gronkowski in this week's Sports Illustrated: Gronk gets paid "stupid money" to make appearances at birthday parties.

More specifically, he got paid "five figures" to go to a woman's birthday party in Massachusetts and play various drinking games for an hour this summer.

SI writer Chris Ballard went with Gronkowski to the party, and concluded that he is a genuine 23-year-old who just likes to have fun. Here's a bit of what he saw:

It would be easy, watching the scene, to conclude that Gronkowski is just a big frat boy. And he is, but he is also a gracious, joyous one. He didn't hide behind designer sunglasses or check his phone or in any way act cooler than anyone else. Even when he lost at beer pong (teamed with the birthday girl) and, after that, flip cup (3--2 in a best of five), he didn't pull rank or get upset.

Gronkowski is aware that his "Summer of Gronk" has become a meme. But he still went to the event because, as his dad told Ballard, "He's being offered stupid money. He can't turn it down."

And that leads to another interesting revelation from the article: Gronk is never going to go broke.

He keeps his money in municipal bonds, lives in a modest house in the suburbs near Gillette Stadium, and still wears his high school clothes.

But if he keeps making five figures for one-hour appearances, we'd expect some of that might change.

You can the entire SI feature here. It's worth it >

Rob Gronkowski Does Not Feel Fear

Rob Gronkowski was Sports Illustrated's cover choice for the first week of the NFL season this year and they couldn't have made a better decision.

Gronk had a breakout season for the Patriots in 2011, and during the off-season he was everywhere.

In fact, he partied so much and made so many appearances, people started calling his off-season "The Summer of Gronk."

Not surprisingly, Gronkowski said a number of ridiculous things in his SI feature but the one that stood out to us the most is that he claims he doesn't feel fear.

From SI:

"He claims he does not feel fear. 'No, not at all,' he told me. What about getting crushed over the middle? 'It's all good,' he said. 'Sometimes it's cool, you want to get that feeling, to feel what it's like to get hit the hardest, when you're not looking, just so you're ready.'"

Gronkowski's family says Rob was "born without the capacity to feel fear or pain." He's always just gone for it, the first time he went skiing when he was a kid he snuck to the top of the hill and went down at full-speed. He also endured constant "ritual pummelings" from his older brothers, to which they credit his ability to break tackles so well.

Ex-Porn Star Says Rob Gronkowski Dropped Passes Because He Was Thinking Of Her

We all remember the Bibi Jones (porn star)-Rob Gronkowski relationship from last football season right?

Well, a lot has changed since last season. Bibi retired from the porn industry and goes by her real name now, Britney Maclin, and Gronk had the best summer ever.

But according to Maclin, their relationship is still there. She tweeted last night, referring to the 20-18 Patriots loss to the Cardinals on Sunday:

She also tweeted another photo of her and Gronk that seems to be an old photo from last year calling it "A pic of Gronk and I no one has ever seen lol — naughty!"

Just a few minutes later though, Maclin tweeted again that someone she was partying with in Boston took her phone and sent the picture adding "this is gonna be drama."

We don't really know if the world was supposed to see the picture of Maclin and Gronk but now it's out there (warning: NSFW) and just another chapter in the wild life of Rob Gronkowski.

Rob Gronkowski Has His Own Cereal

Rob Gronkowski, Gronk Flakes

Everybody's favorite outrageous tight end now has his own breakfast. "Grönk Flakes" are now a real thing, and Rob Gronkowski looks as silly on the cover of the box (right) as you would expect.

Gronkowski told CBSBoston.com, that Grönk Flakes were inspired by "Flutie Flakes," a cereal by former Patriots quarterback Doug Flutie. According to Gronkowski, his parents bought Flutie Flakes "every day."

And like Flutie Flakes, a portion of the proceeds from Grönk Flakes will go to Gronkowski's charity, the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation.

The cereal will be sold in New England area grocery stores. But if you are not in the neighborhood, the cereal can also be ordered at PLBSports.com.

The Old Rob Gronkowski Is Dead

New England Patriots Rob Gronkowski

The Summer Of Gronk has come to an end.

As Steve DelVecchio at Larry Brown Sports points out, Rob Gronkowski went on the Dan Patrick show this morning and well, he was really boring. The usually unfiltered Gronk was replaced with a shell of his former self.

In general, Gronkowski gave Patrick very vanilla answers but here's the part of the transcript that stuck out to us the most (from SportsRadioInterviews.com:

How long would I last if I hung out with you and your brother for the weekend?

“Probably an hour. [Laughs]“

But what would we do if I am hanging out with the Gronkowski’s?

“Whatever, good times. If it’s the offseason? Just kick it and play some backyard sports. Definitely some basketball in the backyard. Get a workout in, a little running, and just chill.”

When would we start crushing beers though?

“Not sure. I don’t do those things. [Dan Patrick: You don't crush beers?] No. [Dan Patrick: OK, I will. What other brothers would join me?] Call them up and ask them.”

Yes, that's the same Gronkowski who said to cameras during an ESPN E:60 mini-film about him: "Literally 23 hours and 58 minutes left to get blacked out," while partying his face off.

This leads us to believe Gronk has had a stern talking to from the Patriots telling to behave himself. With the mediocre season the Pats are facing so far, we're sure Belichick and Kraft don't want anymore "bad press" for the team.

We miss the summer of Gronk:

Is The Old Rob Gronkowski Back?

The Summer of Gronk was epic. But ever since the season has started Rob Gronkowski has been very, very quiet. The party boy even claimed he "doesn't crush beers."

The Patriots are in London for its game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday and at a fan gathering in Trafalgar Square a glimpse of the old Gronk came out to play when he spiked the mic at the crowd's chanting request.

Rob Gronkowski gave us one of the best touchdown celebrations ever today when he marched across the endzone like a Buckingham Palace guard and then spiked the ball.

When he was asked during a post-game press conference what he was trying to imitate with his dance he responded:

"That little nutcracker dude that's guarding the house."

Brady on the other hand, had no idea what his teammate was trying to do (from CSNNE.com):

"I don't know what the hell he was doing [on] that first one," the quarterback said with a smile. "Yeah, he needs some work on that."
